Oral Care Formulation Services
Quia Group provides complete oral care product formulation for consumer brands and dental professionals. We handle the chemistry — you get a stable, effective, manufacturable formula, documented and ready for production. Every engagement is led personally by our President and formulator, Matt Spaid.
Toothpaste Formulation
Toothpaste is the hardest-working product in oral care, and one of the hardest to get right. A great dentifrice has to clean effectively, carry its actives at stable, meaningful levels, foam and rinse the way consumers expect, and taste good enough to use twice a day for years.
Quia Group formulates custom toothpastes across the full spectrum: nano-hydroxyapatite toothpaste for enamel repair and sensitivity, whitening toothpaste built around proven stain-removal and whitening chemistry, and fluoride or fluoride-free systems to match your brand's positioning. We balance abrasivity (RDA), active stability, rheology, flavor, and sweetness systems so the finished paste performs in the mouth and on the shelf.
Deliverables: bench prototypes, final formula documentation, ingredient rationale, and manufacturing handoff support.
Mouth Rinse Formulation
A mouthwash has seconds to prove itself. Ours are formulated to deliver genuine efficacy — fresh breath, clean feel, active delivery — without relying on a harsh alcohol burn to signal "it's working."
We develop alcohol-free mouthwash systems with excellent solubilization and preservation, and halitosis mouthwash formulas that target volatile sulfur compounds and the oral conditions that produce them, rather than simply masking odor. Flavor architecture, sweetener systems, color stability, and packaging compatibility are all engineered in from the start.
Remineralization
Remineralization is one of the most exciting areas in modern oral care. Nano-hydroxyapatite — a synthetic, biomimetic form of the mineral that makes up tooth enamel — has moved from specialty ingredient to mainstream active, and the formulation know-how matters as much as the raw material does.
We formulate remineralizing toothpastes, mouth rinses, and treatment gels that put nano-HAp at effective levels in a stable base, paired with complementary actives like fluoride or potassium nitrate for sensitivity relief. Every formula is engineered for the chemistry to actually do its job once it leaves the tube.
Home Whitening
At-home whitening is where consumer expectations meet hard chemistry. Whether your brand is built around carbamide peroxide, hydrogen peroxide, or the gentler PAP (phthalimidoperoxycaproic acid), the right vehicle, the right concentration, and the right wear time make the difference between results and sensitivity.
We formulate gels, pens, strips, and tray systems that deliver meaningful whitening with the comfort your customers expect — every system backed by stability data and clear usage protocols.
In-Office Whitening
Chairside whitening has to work fast, work safely, and work on the first try. We develop professional whitening systems — including 25% hydrogen peroxide gels and other high-concentration formulations — for dental practices, professional brands, and whitening salons.
Every in-office formula we ship is engineered around real chairside conditions: contact time, isolation, soft-tissue tolerance, and post-treatment sensitivity. Documentation supports the regulatory and clinical records your practice or brand needs.
Halitosis Care
Halitosis is caused by volatile sulfur compounds produced by bacteria on the tongue and in periodontal pockets — and masking it with flavor doesn't solve the problem. We formulate fresh-breath toothpaste and fresh-breath mouthwash systems that target the actual cause: zinc salts, cetylpyridinium chloride, essential-oil actives, and other proven odor-control ingredients deployed at effective concentrations.
Our halitosis formulations are built for daily use, with flavor and mouthfeel that keep people coming back to the bottle.
How We Work
Our Process
Every Quia Group engagement follows a clear, documented path from brief to bench to production.
1. Discovery
We start with a conversation about your brand, your category, your target consumer, and your must-haves. Regulatory targets, claims, and benchmarks are agreed up front.
2. Bench development
We build and iterate prototypes in our lab. You'll receive samples and feedback at each stage, with full documentation of ingredient choices and active levels.
3. Final formula
Once locked, the formula is documented to manufacturing standard: ingredient deck, percentages, process notes, and stability data, ready for scale-up.
4. Manufacturing handoff
We support your contract manufacturer through first production runs, troubleshooting any scale-up issues that surface, and adjusting only as needed.
FAQ
Common Questions
Direct-to-consumer oral care startups, established consumer brands expanding into oral care, dental professionals launching their own product lines, and contract manufacturers who need formulation support. Whether you're a first-time founder or a category incumbent, the engagement model is the same: you talk directly to your formulator.
Most engagements run 8–16 weeks from kickoff to a locked formula, depending on the category and number of iterations. Whitening and remineralization projects sometimes go longer because of the stability and performance data required.
Yes. We formulate for brands selling in the U.S., Europe, and beyond, and we formulate with awareness of the differing regulatory frameworks that apply in each market.
